The Washington State Ferries originated in the early 1900s. The early ferries were steamer ships known as the "Mosquito Fleet." In 1929, the industry consolidated into 2 different companies. After World war II, labor costs made ferry systems very challenging to operate. By the late 1940s, this brought ferry services to a halt. The state of Washington recognized that ferries were the life line of many communities that heavily relied on ferry services.
Very detailed model for the price. I once used this ferry to get to the islands in Washington state. It was a day for rough seas when we got off the doc. It was so beautiful but it sure rained alot there.
